SPRINKLER REGULATIONS FOR SENIORS’ HOUSING

Subsequent to order-in-council dated November 18, 2015, and published in the Gazette officielle du Québec on December 2 of the same year, the government adopted a regulation amending the Safety Code under the Building Act to make it mandatory to install sprinkler systems in all existing private residences for seniors in Québec subject to certification by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS).

Several safety measures have been implemented or will be implemented shortly, including the addition of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, upgrades to fire detection and alarm systems, upgrades to emergency lighting systems and improvements to the fire resistance rating of fire separations.

EXVESTA and its multidisciplinary team of consultants are here to support you in this process and make managing it more flexible in order to deliver a turnkey project that respects the human aspects involved in such work.
